I was in North Carolina last weekend, the one thing that really struck me was the proliferation of traffic cops every where. There seemed to be more of them , than there was normal officers on the streets. It got me thinking, why all of a sudden had speeding cars and bad parking moved up in priority in the state. Was drug dealing now a distant memory, no more murders or robberies, both of which always go up during recessions.
No of course not, it is because if you put a police offer on the street and he arrests a dealer, then you have to process him through the court system and if convicted put him up at cost in a prison. A traffic cop on the other hand, pays his own way and helps out cash strapped states by increasing on the sly their revenue.
Beware the people, cause in these troubled times, they can see this all too well and they will lash back if they are pushed to far. We are coming to a place when the average person can no longer keep paying out. Many are there already, unless the govt. starts helping Joe Six Pack within the next few months, we are going to see the consumer engine of this country crash even further and social order start to fray.
An interesting post here by Michael Kampermann or for Irish Gifts
